Almost 30 years ago, Stevie Wonder was awarded a top French cultural honor as a “Commander of Arts and Letters.” However, he just collected the award on March 6th 2010. Wonder had been named for the honor back in 1981, but he’s a busy guy and just got around to picking it up. You know, it’s like that dry cleaning ticket you’ve had in your wallet for ages.
The French Culture Minister commended the legendary performer, calling him, “music’s familiar genius.” Wonder accepted the honor by thanking his mother, saying, “I receive this honor in memory of all those that have made it possible for me to stand here today.”
Wonder is to headline the Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. this summer.
