This Day In Music History: Courtney Love, Need We Say More?
On a March 18 appearance in 2004, Courtney Love tested the censorship waters by flashing David Letterman during a table top serande of “Danny Boy.” Oh and later that night she was charged for assult and reckless endangerment, can we say classy?
Only a month after that whole [lastfm]Janet Jackson[/lastfm] “wardrobe malfunction” incident, [lastfm]CourneyLove[/lastfm] provoked TV execs by seeing how much she could get away with on live television. After teasing the audience by pulling up her shirt several times during her interview, Love climbed on David Letterman’s desk and exposed her business while singing “Danny Boy.”
Her risqué routine forced the network to blur the picture using a time delay, while Love boasted, “I haven’t shown my boobs for so long.”
Later that night, Love performed a surprise concert at the Plaid night-club in Manhattan, where she threw a microphone stand into the crowd, injuring a man. She was charged with assult and reckless endangerment on top of her pre-existing drug charges she was in court for a day earlier.
At least she got her life back on track these days, right?
