While attending Virgin Music Festival in September 2008, concert attendee Daniel Sullivan made his way to the stage, bypassing security and pushed Gallagher from the stage.
Gallagher suffered three broken ribs from the altercation. Due to Gallagher’s injuries, six concerts had to be postponed in North America and Eurpoe, including dates in Paris and New York City.
In a statement issued by Gallagher to the court he explained that he, “I ended up in a heap on the floor,” and had felt as though he was, “hit by a bus.”
Sullivan plead guilty to assault causing bodily harm and was sentence to a year of house arrest. He explained that he was drunk at the time of the incident and could not recall the details of the evening in question.
Prosecutors were asking for a sentence of between six and eight months behind bars, but the judge found Sullivan to be apologetic, however, he is now barred from alcohol consumption.
- It appears, this is just another case where a drunk person had to blame it on the alcohol.
