[lastfm]Bret Michaels [/lastfm]remains hospitalized in stable condition, after exhibiting symptoms of hyponatremia, a lack of sodium in the body which can lead to seizures. The [lastfm]Poison[/lastfm] front man is also recovering from a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage, the cause of which doctors have yet to identify.
As reported by E! News, Michaels was admitted Thursday to the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, for a headache–later discovered to be a stroke.
Likely caused by the reality-star’s type 1 diabetes, the bleeding near his brain stem had produced impaired speech and motor skills.
In response to public interest, the performer’s reps posted the following homepage message: “With further testing and rehabilitation, [doctors] are hopeful that Bret will gradually improve as the blood surrounding the brain dissolves and is reabsorbed into his system, which can be a very painful recovery and take several weeks to months”
