[lastfm]Lenny Kravitz[/lastfm] will join other musicians on May 16 to perform at Gulf Aid, a benefit show to help families affected by the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.  The proceeds will also go towards the Louisiana wetlands recently threatened by the British Petroleum oil spill.

Available through Elevate, the 10-hour long event will take place in New Orleans, at the Mardi Gras World River City overlooking the Mississippi River.

Tickets are $50 and go towards cleaning up the aftermath of a fatal spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which has so far leaked over 200,00 gallons into the surrounding New Orleans area.

Notable performers include [lastfm]Mos Def,[/lastfm] [lastfm]John Legend[/lastfm], [lastfm]Ani DiFranco[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Ivan Neville[/lastfm] with [lastfm]Dumpstaphunk [/lastfm]–hey didn’t he have a song on the soundtrack to this John Ritter film:

Tickets are currently available, so if you’re in the New Orleans area, and want to help out while having fun, you know what to do:

Can the performers rock hard enough to help those affected by the oil?
