Faces Aim to Reunite Whether Rod Stewart Likes it or Not
1970s super group [lastfm]Faces[/lastfm] announced on their website yesterday of plans to reunite this August, sans [lastfm]Rod Stewart[/lastfm]. Made up of guitarist [lastfm]Ronnie Wood[/lastfm], drummer [lastfm]Kenney Jones[/lastfm] and keyboardist [lastfm]Ian McLagan[/lastfm], the British group will bring on [lastfm]Simply Red[/lastfm] singer [lastfm]Mick Hucknall[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Sex Pistols [/lastfm]bassist [lastfm]Glen Matlock[/lastfm] to perform August 13 at England’s Vintage at Goodwood festival.
Faces last reunited in October 2009 without Stewart, with Hucknall and former [lastfm]Rolling Stones[/lastfm] bassist [lastfm]Bill Wyman[/lastfm], to perform at London’s Royal Albert Hall. A year earlier, Faces nearly reunited with Stewart, until the British singer put a stop to it all, stating no reformation would take place because he had other commitments.
In an interview with the BBC, Wood expressed the possibility of special guest performers, including [lastfm]Noel Gallagher[/lastfm], [lastfm]Slash[/lastfm] and the [lastfm]Black Crowes[/lastfm]’ [lastfm]Chris Robinson[/lastfm]. “There’s loads of people that have said, ‘Please, let us sing with you.'” Wood said.
