2011 marks the first time in 20 years DMB will not hit the road in the US, South America, or Europe. In an interview with Billboard Dave Matthew’s commented:
I want to look at music not as a professional. I’m always a professional to a degree, but I’d like to do it for a year where I’m just an amateur, where the only reason I’m doing it is out of love so I can come back with this group of people that I’ve played with for 20 years and have something more.
Dave said that it was important to announce it, rather than simply just take the time off. Their devoted fan base deserved it, and Matthews respected them by doing it.
The tour hits our area on August 23rd at the Hollywood Bowl and wraps on September 15 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
