Memorial Day weekend is the informal beginning of summer, and in Los Angeles, it’s also a great excuse to get on I-15 (or head down to the airport and hop a flight) to Las Vegas. But your partying doesn’t have to be restricted to the desert nights, with so many options for daylife in Sin City. This time of year, the pool clubs are the hottest – figuratively and literally – places to be.
We’ve got your rundown of some of the top places to check out on your trip. Check them out after the jump.
Fridays, noon-7 p.m.
The scene: A great way of kicking off the long weekend, Ditch Fridays unfolds at the three-acre Palms Pool, lined by cabanas but with plenty of space for those partygoers not looking to lay out the big cash. It can get pretty packed in the late afternoon as people start arriving to Vegas from out of town.
Daily, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
The scene: It’s a party befitting of the biggest casino in Vegas; Wet Republic brings out top names in music to spin for a lovely crowd in a secluded corner of the MGM Grand’s sprawling property. Celebrity hosts from the worlds of sports, modeling and reality television also often make the scene.
Daily, 10 a.m.-sunset
The scene: The line snaking around the pool area at the Venetian leads to an exclusive, adults-only pool in the back corner. The cozy space means that no one, no matter where (s)he sets up shop, will be too far from the party.
Venus Pool Club
Wednesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
The scene: Surrounded on all sides by the towers of Caesar’s Palace, the Venus Pool Club is a champagne-soaked slice of oasis. Great food, a fantastic drink menu (including a tangerine caipirinha that can be slightly dangerous) and world-class music talent ensure an upscale, sexy crowd.
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
Sundays, 11 a.m.-sunset
The scene: The grandfather of the Vegas pool/club hybrids, Rehab has already started 2010 on fire, with guest appearances by Wyclef Jean and Jamie Foxx, among others. The lines are long, the bodies are cut and the drinks flow all the way until sunset.
