Ticket buyers rejoice! For this whole month customers of Live Nation won’t have to pay those absurd processing fees.
It all goes down today so break out your plastic and get purchasing!Ticket sales group Live Nation begins No Service Fee June this week, eliminating service fees on nearly 8 million tickets, more than 700 shows and 110 artists. Such performers covered by the campaign include [lastfm]Jimmy Buffett[/lastfm], [lastfm]Rush[/lastfm], [lastfm]Kiss[/lastfm], [lastfm]Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers[/lastfm] and a bunch more.
In his own words, Jason Garner, CEO of Live Nation’s concert division told Billboard:
“Every show, every ticket, every artist, every amphitheater we own will have no service fees in June.”
The concert giant pulled a similar promotion last summer with No Service Fee Wednesdays, which ran for 10 weeks, and was pivotal in moving over 800,000 of unsold inventory tickets.
Garner stated that customer research shows fans “overwhelmingly” prefer an absence of ticketing fees.
“The goal is to fill every seat this summer. We know if we do that, we win, the industry wins, the artists win and the fan wins,” says the director.
While Garner trumpets the benefits of the month long campaign, many fans would rather do away with service charges all together.
No Service Fee June tickets are available at LiveNation.com today through Wednesday, June 30, until 11:59 pm ET,
So is this a great deal, or an industry’s flailing attempt at staying relevant in a more cost-aware society?
