Evidentially, performing on national television just weeks after cheating death by beating a brain hemorrhage and a minor stroke just isn’t enough for former [lastfm]Poison[/lastfm] frontman [lastfm]Bret Michaels[/lastfm]. What’s the rock and reality star up to now?

Michaels is readying a new album, Custom Built, for a July 6th release date, and has resumed his live performance schedule that takes him from Minnesota to Texas to Florida.
Michaels commented on his health issues to the Associated Press saying:
I don’t want my legacy to be that I had a brain hemorrhage. I want it to be that I rocked, I treated people with respect and I made a lot of good friends along the way.
Michaels’ definition of “rocking” certainly isn’t bed rest; just weeks after the warning stroke and discovering a hole in his heart – an ACTUAL HOLE IN HIS HEART – Michaels was on stage with American Idol third place finisher [lastfm]Casey James[/lastfm] during the show’s season finale, performing “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.”
This is not to say that life on the road will remain unchanged for the 47-year-old. Doctors have told him to take it easy off stage, according to the Associated Press, and cut back on the hard partying – including alcohol. He also has to prepare for a fall surgery to repair the hole in his heart with blood thinning medication.
None of this, though, will slow down Michaels’ television schedule, either. His new VH-1 reality show, Life As I Know It will pick up again in the fall.
