picnik collage21 HBO is BAAAAACK!!!
It’s about freakin’ time HBO. I was beginning to wonder about you. HBO’s season 3 of True Blood premiered last night and before the episode aired, HBO gave us all a glimpse of what they have on the horizon….And I for one, am excited. Check it all out after the jump…

If you missed season 1 of Eastbound and Down well, me and you won’t have much to talk about if we run into each other at the bar. Danny McBride plays KENNY POWERS, an ex-major league baseball player and a current major league jackass. Season 2 follows KENNY POWERS to Mexico where he again, tries to revive his baseball career. Make sure you catch the Will Ferrell’s cameo from season 1. Season 2 debuts in September.

Also returning soon to HBO is the final season of Entourage. Season 7. What’s next? We’ll find out June 27th…

Bored to Death enters its 2nd season on HBO coming up in September. Honestly. How do you not watch a show starring Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis? True hilariousness.

And now for the NEW HBO shows on the horizon. Take the writer of Soprano’s. Add in Martin Scorsese and have Steve Buscemi be your star about the corrupt world of 1920’s Atlantic City and you pretty much have a can’t miss production. BOARDWALK EMPIRE premieres also in September.

Another new show HBO teased us with last night, is the due in 2011 adaptation of the epic fantasy novels from George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones. HBO usually does a bang-up job with epics and Game of Thrones may be the next HUUUUGE thing. Coming in 2011.

Oh yeah. And hitting the internet this weekend was the news that RICKY GERVAIS will star alongside Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm, season 8, due sometime next year on HBO.

Welcome back to the land of relevance HBO. You still have a lot of work to do in my book for cancelling Rome, Deadwood, the Preacher and for green-lighting John From Cincinnati but these are all steps in the right direction…

  • Dataguy

Season 2 of Hung premieres this month too.
And don’t forget the brilliant Carnivale on the HBO cancellation list…

  • Dr. Cranfill

True story. Carnivale was slated for a six season run and was cancelled after two seasons. The thing with Rome, Deadwood, and the never aired The Preacher series, was that the SAME HBO EXEC cancelled all three.

As far as HUNG goes, yes it is back this month. I tried, I really tried to watch it and like it but alas, I could not.
