Sir [lastfm]Paul McCartney[/lastfm] “put a spell” on the Isle of Wight audience when he played the druggy, trippy, electric guitar masterpiece, “Purple Haze.” McCartney told the audience stories about [lastfm]Jimi Hendrix[/lastfm] including that he also played the Isle of Wight festival a few weeks before he died.

“I was really lucky to know Jimi and hang out with him a little bit in the 60s, he was a great guy,” said McCartney.
