Motley Crue lead singer, Vince Neil, knows a thing or two about Tattoos & Tequila, which is exactly why he titled his first album in 15 years exactly that. The album, which is comprised of mostly covers will be released June 22.

The covers include [lastfm]Elton John[/lastfm]‘s “The Bitch is Back,” [lastfm]Elvis Presley[/lastfm]‘s “Viva Las Vegas” (a tribute to Neil’s current residence), [lastfm]Creedence Clearwater Revival[/lastfm]‘s “Who Will Stop the Rain” and the [lastfm]Hollies[/lastfm]‘ “Long Cool Woman” to deep cuts form [lastfm]Cheap Trick[/lastfm] (“He’s a Whore”), [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm] (“Nobody’s Fault”), [lastfm]Scorpions[/lastfm] (“Another Piece of Meat”), [lastfm]ZZ Top[/lastfm]‘s “Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers” and [lastfm]the Sweet[/lastfm] (“AC DC”).
Neil commented that his plans for this album were based around finding songs that related to his life so that his fans could experience what it’s like to be Vince Neil, saying:
I wanted to make a really cool, rock ‘n’ roll party album with songs that mean a lot to me and give people a glimpse into my life.
This summer Neil will take to touring on the Crue Fest after his band Motley Crue performs alongside [lastfm]Ozzy Osbourne[/lastfm] for six OZZFest dates. The two have not performed together since ’84. It will be interesting to see the two rock on, especially since aging doesn’t seem to have stopped either group.
