Who Inspired Russell Brand’s “Get Him To The Greek” Character?
British funny man Russell Brand used his friendship with an iconic ’90s rock star as inspiration for his character Aldous Snow in his new film Get Him To The Greek. We Wonder(wall) who it could be.
Find out who after the jump!
It’s guitarist [lastfm]Noel Gallagher[/lastfm] of [lastfm]Oasis[/lastfm]. He explained that Noel’s ability to basically not care what people think about him or his exploits was exactly the characteristic Brand needed to help him portray Aldous Snow.
He tells you stories and you think, ‘Oh my God, you decadent lunatics. Tales of when there was still money in the music industry and they were all carrying on. So there are no direct references, but Noel is someone I have in mind. Mostly because Noel Gallagher doesn’t care. Most people say, ‘Oh I don’t care what people think about me.’ He actually doesn’t. You’re like, ‘Don’t say that! You’ll ruin everything you’ve worked for,’ and he’s like, ‘Don’t f**king care, say what I want.
We have a sneaky suspicion that Brand’s very own insane lifestyle probably didn’t hurt, but having a friendship with Noel Gallagher only helped out. However, it’s not to know that if we have any crazy Noel Gallagher stories we can just go ahead and tell them because he definitely will not care.
You can catch Russell Brand summoning the spirit of Noel Gallagher in his new film Get Him To The Greek in theatres now.
