Get the details on [lastfm]Iron Maiden[/lastfm]‘s brand new album after the jump!
The legendary metal band is releasing its 15th – 15th! – album on August 16th, entitled The Final Frontier, and it covers some new ground. including an 11-minute album closer, “When the Wind Blows,” which will be the longest ever Maiden track.
It’s the band’s first release since 2006’s A Matter of Life and Death, which got great reviews, especially for a metal band that’s been in the game for more than 30 years. The Final Frontier also sounds like one of the band’s easiest recording efforts; it took [lastfm]Iron Maiden[/lastfm] only six weeks to record.
“We were getting down a track a day — all playing together as a band, Bruce (Dickinson) singing, all in the same room, so there’s a very live-in-the-studio feel to it,” guitarist Dave Murray said. “Once we finished a track we’d jump straight into doing some extra guitar bits. It was very quick for us.”
Does Maiden still rock hard enough for you to check out the new record? Or will you stick to the classics like “The Number of the Beast” and “Powerslave“? Sound off below.
