Rumors floated all over the Inter-web-tubes about a new [lastfm]Van Halen[/lastfm] album in the works, but someone close to the band put the kibosh on those in a statement released to Rolling Stone. Who was it, and where did the rumors start? Find out more after the jump.
The statement was released by Janie Van Halen, the wife/spokesperon of [lastfm]Eddie Van Halen[/lastfm].
“What is going around is exactly that, rumours. I don’t have any updates at this time,” she said.
The album was rumored to feature [lastfm]David Lee Roth[/lastfm] on vocals and have been finished over the July 4th weekend, with a release penciled in for the first half of 2011.
Last year, [lastfm]Eddie Van Halen[/lastfm] told Rolling Stone that he had “tons of music written, such a variety of stuff,” which gave the rumors some credibility. And the timing is right, with Eddie wanting to wait until his son/bassist [lastfm]Wolfgang Van Halen[/lastfm] finished high school.
But as of right now, there’s no new [lastfm]Van Halen[/lastfm] album.
Until then, these guys will struggle for new material:
