What is being referred to as “Antennagate,” Steve Jobs has taken some jabs since the release of the iPhone 4 for the design flaw of the antenna that is causing bad reception for a number of users.
To alleviate the problem and complaints, Jobs announced today that Apple will giveaway free phone cases to all iPhone 4 users in order to fix the antenna problem. Get all the details here.

In the announcement, Jobs offered the simple fix to the antenna problem by giving away free cases to all iPhone 4 buyers, and will refund all customers who already bought the $29 case. The free cases will be available until September 30th by signing up on Apple’s website.
Jobs told reporters, “We’re not perfect. Phones aren’t perfect either,” adding “but we want to make all of our users happy.”
“It’s very hard to escape the conclusion that there is a problem,” Jobs said, “but that problem is affecting a very small percentage of our users.”
Jobs apologized to users, but remained smug towards investors during the Q&A after the press conference stating, “To our customers who are affected by the issue, we are deeply sorry,” adding, “To those investors who bought the stock and are down by $5, I have no apology.”
Jobs lightened the mood of the media’s overreaction of the issue by opening the press conference with a fan-made video, “The iPhone 4 Antenna Song,” by Jonathan Mann, whose lyrics exclaim “If you don’t want an iPhone 4 don’t buy it. If you bought one and you don’t like it, bring it back … but you know you won’t.”
Were any of you affected by the iPhone 4 antenna issue? Don’t forget to grab your free case through September 30th.
