There are always concerns. There are always worries. When one of your favorite bands reunites, will you still love it? Will age reduce the band to a hollowed out husk of its former self?
[lastfm]Soundgarden[/lastfm] definitely put those worries to bed on Sunday night.
Bringing down the curtain on Lollapalooza 2010, [lastfm]Soundgarden[/lastfm] stormed through its set with the precision and power of a band at its peak, not one which broke up 13 years ago.
“It’s good to be back!”exclaimed lead singer [lastfm]Chris Cornell[/lastfm]. “We just took a little break, but now we’re back.”
While it might have been tempting for some in the crowd to extrapolate that comment to mean that the ‘Garden is back for good – or at least for a long run – all that mattered Sunday evening was the moment. And the band stepped up to the moment big time, delivering on classics such as “Rusty Cage,” “Blow Up the Outside World,” “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching With My Good Eye Closed.”
Judge for yourself [amidst the "woos']:
There’s no word as to whether we’ll see more [lastfm]Soundgarden[/lastfm] in 2010…or ever again…but the band does have a greatest hits collection due out in October. Maybe a tour to support that?
