First, there were rumors that [lastfm]Van Halen,[/lastfm] with [lastfm]David Lee Roth[/lastfm] (pictured above) back as singer, had completed a new album over the long July 4th weekend. Then the band’s manager/[lastfm]Eddie Van Halen[/lastfm]’s wife, Janie, released a statement saying those rumors were false.
Now, the band’s publisher, Warner/Chappell, is confirming that Roth and [lastfm]Van Halen[/lastfm] are in the studio, recording an album that is slated for release in 2011.
According to Warner/Chappell, the band is working on its first release of new material since 1998’s Van Halen III, which featured [lastfm]Extreme[/lastfm] lead singer [lastfm]Gary Cherone[/lastfm]. It would be the first Roth-fronted release since the band’s 1984, which came out in…well…1984.
Also, an executive from Live Nation is already talking about the band touring behind the record in 2011.
The latter almost guarantees a tour date or two in southern California. After all, we know how Roth feels about those California Girls…
How excited would you be for a [lastfm]Van Halen[/lastfm] tour next year? And how much do yo miss 80s music videos?
