We see you out there. We see you, with your Dinoshark t-shirt and your stuffed Sharktopus, stocking up for the SyFy premiere of its made-for-television “film” Sharktopus in September. But what would happen, we ask, if Dinoshark and Sharktopus were to battle?
We turn to the master of b-movie shlock to find out.
It should be no surprise with those titles that Roger Corman produced both Dinoshark and Sharktopus (which, inexplicably, stars Eric freaking Roberts), and that both were shot on bare-bones budgets (Dinoshark cost an estimated $2 million).
“As to who wins” in a fight-to-the-death between the two, “I don’t know,” Corman said. “I think it would most likely be Sharktopus, because he has more weapons than Dinoshark. Or, it could be mutual destruction.”
We might get a chance at a definitive answer, though, as there is talk of a possible … wait for it … Dinoshark vs. Sharktopus movie.
“We anticipate that there will be a Dinoshark vs. Sharktopus,” Corman said. “I’ve just been told that somebody has started a website, petitioning SyFy to make Dinoshark vs. Sharktopus. Sharktopus wont come out until September 25 and Syfy has already told me that assuming it does well we will be doing Dinoshark vs. Sharktopus.”
