Hard Rock Tunes Get Classical
You know what classic rock songs need a little more of nowadays? Some classical violin. Well at least in [lastfm]David Garrett[/lastfm]‘s eyes they do. This classically trained German-American violinist has broken the record as the world’s fastest violinist and will go down in history as the being the most awesome strings recording artist with his reimagined versions of rock hits from [lastfm]Michael Jackson[/lastfm] to [lastfm]Nirvana[/lastfm].
Who says classical music has to be light and airy with symphonic sweeps and fanciful melodies? David Garrett adds a little edge to his bow and strings by revamping hard rock songs in instrumental compositions that’s an explosion of rock meets classical music.
And he looks great doing it too. Not only is he a talented musician, Garrett moonlit as a model when he was a student studying at Julliard in New York City. He definitely has the whole package; classy taste, good looks and enviable talent.
He stopped by the Rolling Stone headquarters to show off his ferocious playing covering [lastfm]Nirvana[/lastfm]‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” [lastfm]Metallica[/lastfm]‘s “Master of Puppets,” and [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm]‘s “Walk This Way.” Watch these three performances here and take on some culture while still keeping your hard rock ‘tude.
It’s amazing his violin doesn’t just burst into flame while he plays…
