Cridersville, Ohio isn’t going to take it anymore…they’ve had it with their plain, mid-western hum-drum of a town name, so they’re ditching their name for a twisted new rock version inspired by [lastfm]Twisted Sister [/lastfm] frontman, Dee Snider. At least for one day.
Cridersville, Ohio knows what they wanna do with their life, and that is obviously rock, and rock harder than any other place in small town USA. While hosting his syndicated radio show, House of Hair, Dee Snider received a song request for one of his rock-anthems from a listener in Cridersville.
Making the connection that his name rhymed with the town name, Snider jokingly requested the town should change its name to “Snidersville.” Since this town knows how to party, they’re making it happen — at least for a day.
In addition to “Snidersville” day, the Twisted Sister himself will host a March for Dimes Bikers for Babies fundraiser on the same day. Taking his hog on the road from Lima, Ohio to “Snidersville,” Snider will lead the biker crew to raise money to fight against premature birth. It just goes to show even the hardest, drag queen rocker is a softie for babies.
Snider responded to the town’s honoring saying, “Having a town change its name to mine – even though it is changing only a few letters – is one of the coolest things that’s ever happened to me. It’s even better that we can support the March of Dimes work to give all babies a healthy start in life.”
He added, “I’ve had many dreams and been lucky enough to have most of them come true, but I would never dare to dream of something like this!”
Obviously Cridersville has only had one dream, and that dream is to rock.
