Legendary guitarist and robot-talker [lastfm]Peter Frampton[/lastfm] is showing his son the way of performing by sticking him on vocals for the father-son duet on “Road To The Son.” Does Frampton junior have the vocal juices to make papa Frampton proud? You be the judge.
[lastfm]Peter Frampton[/lastfm] pushed aside the distorting vocal talk box for minute to opt for his son Julian Frampton to lead the vocals on their hit “Road To The Sun” off Frampton’s latest release Thank You Mr. Churchill.
The father/son team wrote the song together and Julian supplied his gritty vocals on the track, making his papa proud: “We started writing a couple of songs together before recording the album started…So, when co-producer Chris Kimsey and I were listening to all the songs to choose for ‘Thank You Mr. Churchill,’ I slipped in the acoustic demo of our song with Julian singing. I said nothing as Chris started to listen and he immediately said, ‘Ooh, this is a good one … and who’s that singing?’ So, I got to make a very excited call to Julian and tell him he was going to be on the new album.”
Not only was he on the album, Julian went on the road to perform the song on stage with his dad, embraced with warm welcomes from the die-hard Frampton fans.
“Julian has performed with us over a dozen times now and the people have given him their stamp of their approval over and over again,” Frampton says. “I know I’m biased but I tend to agree with them.”
Would you agree, or does Julian Frampton have a voice only a father can love?
