NASA‘s final shuttle flights are just months away, but they’ve launched a very special competition to see the crews off. Space Rock is NASA’s search for a few wake-up anthems for the astronauts during their voyage. The public get to vote for the favorite among previous tracks that have blasted through the shuttle speakers to get the crew out of bed, as well as submit their own tracks for consideration.
For a NASA project, it’s heavy on the puns. Train‘s “Drops Of Jupiter” comes in at number ten, while the bottom half of the chart is rounded out by Louis Armstrong‘s gentle classic “What A Wonderful World.”
Out in front though, the Space Rock anthem of choice for Last.fm listeners, is Metallica‘s anthem “Enter Sandman.” With 4,471,027 scrobbles from 579,196 listeners it doesn’t just have the most listeners, but is also the most played track in the top ten.
