Night Ranger was set to hit the stage immediately after Vanilla Ice. The crowd was totally pumped after being iced that there’s pretty much Night Ranger could do no wrong once the stage turned around and the lights flashed around them. Nothing, that is, until the woman next to me explained exactly what she thought the lyrics to “Sister Christian” were.
Night Rangers time on stage was awesome. The group is great live and collectively the crowd totally fed on their energy. However, it was the lady sitting next to me that was the most interesting part of the show. At first she seemed like a huge Sister Christian fan, but eventually I realized she was really drunk and happy to be there. How did I discover this?
Well, she was missing all the usual signs of being drunk or at least I was not detecting them. Hey, I was drinking too! But it’s when she leaned over and grabbed my arm and said “I am so happy to hear them sing the motor boating song.” Motor boating? What? Could she really think that the chorus of “Sister Christian” was motor boating? Then I got to thinking, that would be an awesome chorus or at least an awesome drinking game. Motor boating during the motor boating song.
When Night Ranger finally did perform “Sister Christian” she and I grabbed hands and we screamed louder than anyone else around us. Then we also screamed the newly rewritten chorus, complete with motor boating.
