By now, you’ve surely heard the grave news that your favorite basket-case boss is leaving The Office for greener pastures. Yes, Steve Carell’s departure is leaving more than Jim, Dwight, and Pam distressed. What will happen to Dunder-Mifflin without Agent Michael Scarn?
Many theories have floated around Hollywood as producers scoured agencies for a replacement, but no actor has surfaced to take over Michael Scott’s branch. Just when things began to look darkest, a light has come – in the form of Will Ferrell.
It has been reported that Will Ferrell himself gave the producers of The Office a call, offering his services to help the transition between Carell’s withdrawal.
The commitment is already in action and fans of The Office can expect to see Farrell’s character on a four-episode arc. According to Deadline Hollywood, Farrell will play a branch manager who comes from the Dunder-Mifflin home office and is just as inappropriate and offensive as Michael Scott.
While no dates have been disclosed, sources say Farrell’s cameo will last one episode after Carell’s retreat. An attempt to bridge the Carell-less gap, possibly? We can only hope The Office won’t collapse once the big names leave.
