The Man Cave just keeps pushing the limits. With all sorts of fancy gizmos and gadgets being given away it was a no brainer to include Sony’s powerhouse gaming console the Playstation 3.
The Playstation 3 features some of the most impressive hardware available today, including full HD gameplay, the ability to watch blu-ray movies, and a built-in hard drive. Factor in the impressive library of games available for the PS3 and you’ll see why we’re so excited about this console.
InFamous features a vast and explorable world where you play a character who gains the power to manipulate electricity. It’s one of those ‘choose your own adventure‘ style games where you have the option of using your powers for your own bidding rather than the benefit of mankind.
The dark, urban setting lays the ground for a compelling storyline, a crucial element that is missed in some games today. The characters are dynamic and real, and the combat system is intuitive. Not a lot of games can offer all that, but this offering from Sucker Punch Productions is all that and more.
The original LittleBigPlanet sold itself with its own creativity by offering players the option to entertain themselves by creating their own levels and worlds to play through. LittleBigPlanet 2 expands on this with new tools and options to manipulate your world.
If you’re not into the creating aspect, LittleBigPlanet 2 features a new and improved story mode and the option for you and up to 4 of your friends to play together. That’s right, co-op gameplay. It’s so rare to see co-op in video games today, and we’re glad to see it included here.
On top of everything, there is a large online community supporting this game. Available through the Playstation network there are thousands of user designed levels available for download. Be sure to check these out, it might just give you a few ideas of your own.
God of War III
We just can’t get enough God of War. The gameplay is essentially the same as the past two titles and we couldn’t be happier about it. When you’ve got a winning formula there’s nothing to fix – but don’t be mistaken, there are new elements and new weapons to look forward to.
The game feels just as epic as its predecessors – there’s nothing quite like storming Mt. Olympus on a quest for revenge against the Greek Gods with the mighty Titans at your back. This game starts big. And it ends big. If you like things epic, you’ll enjoy the God of War series. It’s about as epic as it gets.
If you haven’t played God of War 1 and 2 do yourself a favor and pick them up too.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Solid Snake is back, and he’s a grandpa!
The Metal Gear Solid series has pushed the limits of what stealth games can be. They have become the standard against which all other stealth games are judged, and rightly so, nobody else can come close.
Metal Gear Solid 4 has a brilliant storyline that unfolds in a cinematic fashion. This is Solid Snake’s final adventure, and he’s not going to go quietly in his sleep – he’s gotta save the world one more time.
The only real bad thing we have to say about this game is that it ends. It’s a darn shame too, it would have been perfect if not for that.
Gran Turismo 5
The Gran Turismo series is generally considered the best driving sim game on the market. This 5th iteration features more than 1000 cars and 60 tracks for your driving and modifying pleasure.
This is also the first game in the series to feature realistic car damage – so ramming your opponents to get ahead may not be the best option this time around. Online play is available through the Playstation Network, so you can show off your ride to your buddies.
If you like racing games, Gran Turismo 5 is as realistic as it gets.
