Ireland and Red Hair: Fact? Fiction? Stereotype?
According to My Secret Northern Ireland, only 2% of the world’s population have red hair. In the U.S., roughly 3% of the population has the MC1R gene (the redhead causation gene), either recessive or dominant.
However, in Ireland the percentages are much higher than average, with Scotland and Ireland above the 10% mark.
We like those odds.
