After Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991, and after Paul Rodgers left in 2009, drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May began searching for a new lead singer for Queen.

They didn’t have to look too hard – this young was staring at them from behind the TV screen.

Adam Lambert has reportedly joined the legendary rock band Queen as the group’s new frontman.

In 2004, Paul Rodgers (of Bad Company) teamed up with Brian May and Roger Tyler as the first reincarnation of the legendary band. Until 2009, Queen + Paul Rodgers toured the world playing the band’s very best.

Then for two years, May and Taylor had no lead singer.

But someone stuck out in their mind. When Adam Lambert showcased his amazing range and talent on American Idol in 2008, the musicians took notice. Taylor even expressed interest, praising Lambert’s voice.

He has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that’s great. We would like to work with him again.” Says Taylor.

Lambert “auditioned” with the remaining members of Queen on the season finale of American Idol in 2008. He sang with them again at the 2011 MTV EMAs.

And now it looks like Lambert will be singing with Queen around the world on their next tour.

What are your thoughts on this decision?
