The world of music has a wide range of topics in which to draw inspiration; whether it be political oppression, young love, or just a boy named Sue, music always has something to say.
But no song has ever really described every thirteen year old boys favorite pastime quite like “Turning Japanese”.
The Vapors “Turning Japanese” confused one of our listeners, who wanted to know if the song was referring to taking a trip to Palmdale…
Well, music is an interpretive art form, so “Turning Japanese” means different things to different people.
Maybe The Vapors where referring back to a lost love and the only memory of them was in a photograph, or maybe The Vapors just really love the Japanese culture?
But honestly, who is buying that!?
The Vapors got away with writing a song about adjusting the antenna and we have nothing but respect for them because of it. So below are the lyrics and video to The Vapors quirky ode to relaxing in a gentlemanly manner “Turning Japanese”.
