Phil Collins remembers the Alamo and he’s hoping you do too. But just incase you don’t, the singer-turned-author is heading deep into the heart of Texas to give a history lesson with his new book, The Alamo and Beyond: A Collector’s Journey.

From May 9-12, Collins will be making stops in Houston, San Antonio, Abilene and Dallas to speak about the documents, artifacts and relics from his extensive Texas Revolution collection featured in the book.

According to the publisher, Collins’ love of this period started when he was kid (he used to act out The Battle of Alamo with his toy soldiers), which carried over into his adult years as a collector and becoming somewhat of an authority figure on the subject. Released in March, the book also includes essays from Texan historians and is being touted as “a helpful research tool.” For more information on Collins’ upcoming book tour, check out the publisher’s website.

And while recent health issues may keep Collins from his other passion as a musician, those not making it out to Texas will be interested to know a new concert DVD will be coming soon. With Phil Collins Live at Montreux 2004, fans get a chance to see the legend belt out hits from his over 30-year career. The 2-disc DVD, available May 1, captures the three and a half hour show which includes classics like “Against All Odds,” “In the Air Tonight” and “Easy Lover.” The collection also includes a bonus disc of the 1996 Montreux concert where he performed jazz renditions of his and Genesis hits with The Phil Collins Big Band. Tony Bennett joined him on stage that night for a rendition of “There’ll Be Some Changes Made.”
