Ironically, there is a creature that is velvet, and lives underground. No it is not Lou Reed, but it could be his offspring for all we know.

A new genus of velvet spider has been appropriately named after the Velvet Underground frontman himself. Say hello to our little friend…Loureedia.

As Lou Reed is not alone in being named after a spider, Frank Zappa, and Neil Young contain arachnophobic mini-me’s as well.

Thus fuzzy fatal friend was discovered by an international team of biologists from the U.S., Denmark, Iran, Czechia, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Take a walk on the wild side with Loureedia…if you dare!
