Exactly fifty years ago, on July 12, 1962, the Rolling Stones played their first gig at the Marquee Club in London. During that time only two things have stayed consistent; the presence of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards at the forefront of the band and the timeless music they have orchestrated during the half century they have been together.

The Stones returned to the Marquee Club to mark their 50th year together with a new photo, albeit with a different line up from that first show. The members for that first gig were Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Brian Jones (guitar), Ian Stewart (piano), Dick Taylor (bass) and Tony Chapman (drums). Taylor and Chapman would leave the band shortly after, with Charlie Watts taking over drums in 1963. Jones was later replaced by Mick Taylor on guitar in 1969 before former Faces member Ronnie Wood permanently filled the slot in 1975.

Stewart would remain with the band on piano and keyboards until 1985 and Bill Wyman would vacate the role of bass player in 1993. Jagger, Richards, Wood and Watts returned to the Marquee Club today for a 50th Anniversary band photo, one that could possibly be featured in the photography exhibit at the Somerset House in London today and their new photobook, Rolling Stones: 50, to be released in October.
