Apparently to 17-year-old Wang, it was worth surgically removing his kidney and donating it, if an iPhone and iPad were the end result.
According to Msnbc, eight people involved in the surgical scandal are being accused of aiding Wang in making this plan a success. He Wei was the culprit who arranged the transplant via internet chat rooms, to a recipient in April 2012. The internet deemed as an omnipotent factor in this operation. Wei was reportedly financially s.o.l. due to gambling debts.
Go ahead, allow a kid to sell his kidney to pay off your gambling debts, what a chivalrous thing to do.
The surgeon Song Zhongyu who deliberately removed the kidney from Wang, was included as a defendant. Wang received $3,500 upon exiting the hospital and later suffered renal failure. Two nurses, an anesthesiologist, and surgical assistant were arrested.
