Dee Snider may have endorsed Arnold Schwarzenegger’s candidacy when he ran for Governor of California, but he hasn’t given Republicans carte blanche to use his music.
When Snider and his management got word that Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan has been using Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” the singer responded via a brief press statement:
“I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my song “Were Not Gonna Take It” as recorded by my band Twisted Sister. There is almost nothing on which I agree with Paul Ryan, except perhaps the use of the P90X.”
Ryan seems none too popular with hard rockers: after recently mentioning that he was a fan of Rage Against The Machine, that band’s guitarist Tom Morello wrote a scathing op-ed about Ryan, saying “Paul Ryan is the embodiment of the machine our music rages against.”
