Seems that the city of El Monte like their sugary, carbonated drinks and they want them as cheap as possible. Over 75% of voters rejected a one-cent tax measure initiative that would have probably against their childhood obesity epidemic. Reports say that the beverage industry was responsible for pouring out a cool million to crush Measure H.
The biggest losers? All the children who won’t be losing lbs from cheap, easily-accessible soda and the city for not reaping the monetary and physical rewards of the tax.
