Once upon a time, a golden amber lager made its way into the Budweiser family and it was dubbed “Black Crown.”
Brewed with toasted caramel malt, the sleek bronze cousin of Budweiser will be debuted during the Super Bowl next month. The Super Bowl ad will be directed by Samuel Bayer, who directed Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” but no additional details have been released. According to Budweiser, taste is the new black, and Black Crown represents this very taste.
As quoted in Gothamist, Budweiser’s senior brand manager Nate Scudieri claimed, “Our research shows that after beer drinkers try Budweiser Black Crown, 84 percent would purchase it.” If that doesn’t sell it, then maybe the new, sexy black label will.
