Copper chaos is among us. Way back in the day the French graced the U.S. with a colossal neoclassical sculpture made of copper, otherwise known as the Statue of Liberty. It should not come as a surprise that this very element would become a trend.
According to Chicago-ist, South Loop residents Ryan Lange and Emily Belden came across 59,670 pennies. The crafty couple glued $600 in pennies to their bedroom floor. Although this is not the wackiest of the couple’s DIY home renovations, it is far too meticulous and time consuming for most to achieve or even attempt. Which explains why we are even taking the time to write about them in the first place.
The penny project required 128 hours of slaving away over gluing pennies. Possibly the Chicago wind kept them indoors and encouraged to do something ambitious. Tupac once claimed he was “Tryin’ to make a dollar out of fifteen cents.” Who needs cherry wood when one can make a floor out of 59,670 cents? Let’s have some sense.
Moral of the story, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
