R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” Get “Major” Tweaking
The Tuesday after a three-day weekend. It may be one of life’s cruelest jokes. Sure the extra time off is great, but come Tuesday, and suddenly you find yourself buried under not one but two days worth of work. And to make matters worse, you’re not quite back into your work groove yet.
But don’t worry, we’ve got a foolproof solution for you: procrastination. Yup, there’s nothing quite like wasting time to help you ease back into the work week.
Today’s’ suggested time killer is from 1991, R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion.” It’s the classic you know and love, but with a twist.
Do you know the difference between major and minor scales? Yeah, other than major scales sounding happy while minor scales sound sad, we don’t really know the difference either. But like most things in life, we know it when we hear it.
Well Vimeo user “major scaled” has been taking songs that were composed in the minor key and remastering them to major scale. How they do it, we don’t know, although we suspect they’re using some sort of software package.
And just to be clear, these aren’t covers. Nope, they’re the actual songs that have been tweaked. So what you get is an old “minor” classic that’s been redone in a “major” way. And the result is pretty cool. Take a listen for yourself, then get back to work you slacker.
