Which Santana Song Is Tim McGraw’s Favorite Valentine’s Day Jam?
Country superstar and rock and roll fan Tim McGraw is currently celebrating his new album, Two Lanes of Freedom, hitting Number One on the Billboard country album chart. (It’s the 14th time he has topped that chart.)
As he told Detroit’s WYCD in a recent interview, he’s not one for big splashy affairs. Instead, he likes to keep it simple. “For us, having an evening at home with the kids, a quiet evening is probably the best Valentine’s we can have.”
He echoed those sentiments in a recent interview with Radio.com, saying he rarely goes “over the top” when it comes to Valentine’s Day plans or gifts. “I get lucky every now and then and do something right,” he says.
However, he does have a musical recommendation–an instrumental track from the band Santana. When it comes to Valentine’s Day music, There’s this one song that always works,” he says, “and that’s ‘Samba Pa Ti,’ off the Abraxas album.” Abraxas was Santana’s second album, released in 1970.
McGraw and Hill recently performed another great Valentine’s Day song, “Tougher Than The Rest,” at the GRAMMY MusiCares tribute to Bruce Springsteen. McGraw told Radio.com, “It’s a song that’s special to us, and we’ve seen Bruce and Patti do it before, and it just seems like a perfect song to do.”
Tim McGraw’s Two Lanes of Freedom is in stores now.
