Initial reports indicate that Christian Bale was NOT the man who, dressed as Batman, turned in a suspected burglar over to police in Bradford, England. In fact, true to Batman’s M.O., the identity of the real life caped crusader remains a mystery.

But yes, it really did happen: Batman is patrolling the night, reports Yahoo, and police have the photos to prove it.

Where do we start with this one? How hard did police laugh when “Batman” first walked through the door? How awesome is it that this guy went with old school circa 1960’s, ultra-cheesy Adam West Batman? And how embarrassing must it be to be caught and turned in by a dude wearing tights?

The suspect, seen in the photo wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, was charged with “handling stolen goods and fraud-related offenses.” He was caught and taken to a police station in the early hours of February 25th. Batman then disappeared into the night.

There was no sign of Robin or the Batmobile.
