Tilda Swinton Becomes Living Art By Sleeping In A Glass Box At MoMA
Androgynous queen of quirk, Tilda Swinton, is a highly-lauded Academy Award winning actress who just appeared in David Bowie’s music video for comeback tune “The Stars (Are Out Tonight).”
So why is this star trending? Because the 52-year-old has decided to become a living piece of art. Being an actress and a muse isn’t enough. Nope, Swinton is now sleeping in a glass box at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
The exhibit is super simple. It’s literally just a human sized box, a sleeping pad, and Swinton, glasses off, shoes on, in peaceful repose. Viewers can get close enough to tap the box.
Today was the first “performance,” but apparently Swinton will be sleeping there all year at different times.
MoMA isn’t releasing any info on when she will appear or the context behind the sleeping, but the title of the sleeping actress is “The Maybe.” Like, maybe you’ll see Tilda Swinton, maybe you won’t?
