In old movies, hot broads are always telling their drunken bosses to drink some coffee and take a cold shower. Well, according to some scientist peeps in Finland, there might be some actual science behind that beyond the obvious sexual entendre.
According to Dr. Onni Niemelä, of Seinäjoki Central Hospital and the University of Tampere in Finland, “findings suggest a possible protective effect for coffee intake in alcohol consumers.”
After researching on 19, 000 Finnish people, the scientists discovered that drinking more and more booze raises liver enzyme liver enzyme gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) in the blood and that can lead to liver disease.
For some reason, alcoholic men that drank five or more cups of coffee a day actually have half the amount of GGT in their blood stream than the dudes who didn’t.
For those that are tempted to try this at home, don’t. This is one study and they don’t know if that actual decrease in the disease causing liver enzyme actually leads to improved health. Time will tell.
Just drink sensibly and keep a hot broad around you at all times to keep you in check.
