“American Idol”: Top 7 Take On Classic Rock Songs
The “American Idol” top seven put their own spin on classic rock songs during Wednesday night’s episode, with varying degrees of success.
First up was Burnell Taylor, who sang Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” that didn’t go over well with some of the judges. Keith Urban told him: “I’ve never seen you look more uncomfortable with a song.”
Randy Jackson added, “Everything was so behind the beat.”
Lorenzo Arbos flubbed the lyrics when he and Angie Miller sang Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” (This is the second time he’s forgotten his lyrics — he did it last week, too.)
“Even if there was a little lyric screw-up,” Mariah Carey said, “we still had fun.”
Kree Harrison earned praise for her version of Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart,” even while performing in pain due to a pinched nerve. Mariah Carey said the performance “was possibly my favorite.”
