President Bill Clinton might be well-known for his in office scandals, jogging sessions to get junk food, and recent vegan adventures after a heart attack, but what he’s not known for is really owning social media. Though he’s still one of the most popular modern presidents, Clinton hasn’t mastered the art of Twitter.
Stephen Colbert is trying to change that. The television host set up a Twitter account for Clinton while he appeared on the “The Colbert Report” at the Clinton Global Initiative. Colbert’s name choice for the Twitter-shy president? @PrezBillyJeff.
Clinton talked about a time that he was in office when not even e-mail was used. Later during his service time, the young folks went buckwild with e-mail causing some “embarrassing” conversations to be subpenaed.
That might explain why Clinton has been a little gun-shy to get involved on Twitter despite it’s 140-character limit. Exposure and that he’s “insecure.”
“I think I’m sort of insecure, like what if you Tweet and no one Tweets back? There’s nothing worse than a friendless tweeter, right?”
Considering you already have about 77,000 followers at time of publish, we highly doubt you’ll be friendless Mr. President.
