Happy Birthday, Willie: Willie Nelson Auditions For Role Of Gandalf In ‘The Hobbit 2’
It’s hard to believe considering how many “youthful” predicaments Willie Nelson gets into (performing with Snoop Dogg anymore?), but today the green-lovin’ country singer turned a ripe old 80-years-old.
In celebration of his age, or mockery, or both, Nelson released a fake audition tape today with the help of Conan O’Brien’s team where he pretends to audition for the role of Gandalf in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit II.
Of course all you Hobbit nerds out there know that the movie has already been filmed and Ian McKellen’s magical wizard beard is firmly tied to the project. In response to Nelson’s video, McKellen says that Nelson is “far too young” to play Gandy.
McKellen is Nelson’s junior by seven years, so we’re assuming he means in spirit.
