Watch Iggy & The Stooges’ Performance On The Colbert Report
Iggy Pop and the Stooges‘ new album might be entitled Ready to Die, but the often-shirtless “Godfather of Punk” doesn’t look ready to keel over any time soon. His accompanying band look like they need a whiskey, a cigar, and a 20-year nap in front of the television set while watching a baseball game, but Iggy still has his “lust for life.”
After an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report–where it was an epic battle of the sardonic and deadpan–Iggy performed two songs including one from his new album called “Job.”
Maybe signifying the working class uniform, for a split second Iggy donned a fluorescent crossing-guard vest. He quickly gave up on that symbology.
No need to worry though. His tan is almost as orange as the vest.
The first time since 1973 Iggy Pop has worked with drummer Scott Asheton and guitarist James Williams, Ready to Die is currently available on Fat Possum Records.
