May 4th is one of the nerdiest holidays on the calender, and one we always look forward to.
It’s a day where Sith Lords and Jedi Masters can finally live in peace, and we all find the droids that we’re looking for.
It’s national Star Wars Day!
Sure, in 2007, the Los Angeles City Council declared May 25th Star Wars Day because that was the release of Episode IV: A New Hope, which is cool and everything but May 4th makes way more sense.
First, national Star Wars Day is observed everywhere around the world on May 4th.
Second, Star Wars Day is about being one with the force not the twenty-fifthness. See twenty-fifthness doesn’t even make sense.
It’s a day about finding out that our real fathers are evil, black leather wearing, asthma having bad asses who will cut our arm off if we don’t join the dark side.
National Star Wars Day is about changing our vacation plans from Alderaan to the Cloud City or even Hoth.
One thing we can all agree on is that Star Wars Day is a holiday that should have more than one day of observance.
Hell, the whole month of May should be national Star Wars Month. It will be great.
We’ll have commemorative services for all those lost in the Clone Wars, workshops to promote Wookie Andriod relations, and even have our very own Jedi training camp with Yoda and Obi Won.
So party it up our fellow nerfherders, in the jungle with the Ewoks or if your really special have fun in the VIP section with Jabba the Hutt.
Pop in those old Star Wars VHS, put on your Storm trooper uniform and always remember May the 4th be with you.
