Girls, you should learn by now that if you’re going to hang out backstage with a rocker, you might be the femme fodder for his next trashy biography. One anonymous ex-Playboy bunny from Iowa learned her lesson after attempting to sue musician Sammy Hagar for defamation and losing.
In Hagar’s 2011 memoir, Red: My Uncensored Life In Rock, the woman’s alleged pregnancy by the star in 1988 and the legal settlement reached between the two was briefly mentioned as possible extortion. Because the child died after birth, Hagar was never officially deemed the father and according to Henne Music only had to give the woman $7000.
US District Judge Linda Reade recently ruled that because Hagar did not explicitly named or directly identify the woman in any way, it wasn’t defamation. He only called her the “Playboy bunny from California,” which as we all know, could be so many damn people during that time.
In fact, any one of you who grew up in Los Angeles in the ’80s and is under 30 could be the progeny of a rock star. You never know.
