Orlando residents may be getting a full weekend of Paul McCartney when he brings his Out There Tour to the Amway Center from May 18-19, but Broadway theatregoers will have the opportunity to soak in the sounds of all four Beatles when Let It Be begins performances in July at the St. James Theatre.
Currently playing in London where it was born to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary, Let It Be is described as using “state-of-the-art projection technology and 3D sound to put audiences at the heart of The Beatles’ meteoric rise from their humble beginnings in Liverpool’s Cavern Club, through the heights of Beatlemania, to their later studio masterpieces with live performances of songs including ‘Twist and Shout,’ ‘She Loves You’ and ‘Drive My Car,’ ‘Yesterday,’ ‘Hey Jude,’ ‘Come Together’ and, of course, ‘Let It Be.'”
This isn’t the first time the Fab Four have found faux versions of themselves on Broadway. Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles ran on Broadway from the fall of 2010 through the summer of 2011. A Beatles revue, entitled Beatlmania, also hit the great white way in the 70s. And the Cirque dul Soleil Beatles show LOVE is still packing them in at the Mirage in Vegas.
Tickets are currently on sale for American Express cardmembers and go on sale to the general public beginning May 23rd. The show has also just launched their Facebook and Twitter profiles in addition to their official site.
